

SCOUT LAW:
OBEDIENT
- A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobey them.
This is the timeline of the Troop's history, from where it was found in 1957 to the present with a new eagle scout.
1957
Troop 56 is founded.
1962
Gregory DeVette becomes the first Eagle Scout from Troop 56. Mona Shores School
District is created.
1966
St. Francis moves to a new, modern structure across the street. The old church
becomes Wilma Hall.
1968
Norton Township becomes City of Norton Shores.
1975
Timber Trails Council becomes West Michigan Shores Council.
1977
Troop 56 officially disbands.
1987
Doc Peters reorganizes the troop, becomes Troop 1056, West Michigan Shores Council
1989
Mark Douglas becomes the first 1056 Eagle Scout.
1995
Dr. Peters retires, Dean Runk becomes Scoutmaster. West Michigan Shores Council
becomes Gerald R. Ford Council
1997
Troop 1056 puts out a record five Eagle Scouts.
2001
Mr. Dean Runk retires, Mr. Cliff Nelson becomes Scoutmaster.
2003
Troop 1056 celebrates a combined 35 years of service.
2007
Troop 1056 adds Our Lady of Grace Church as the Chartered Organization and moves meetings and equipment to Our Lady of Grace Church.
The Timber Trails District becomes Pere Marquette joining with the Lighthouse (northern) District.
2008
Troop 1056 added a new Eagle scout.
2009
The troop has done over 40 years of service.
